We love Copper when used as a CRM (it's what we use), and we love Airtable when used as a database (not as a CRM). We actually don't recommend using Airtable as a CRM at all (Airtable is not a CRM).

If you're using Google Workspace, then Copper is the best CRM on the market due to its deep native integrations with Google, unmatched by any of the best CRMs on the market.

If you want the best Google Workspace integration, Copper is in a league of its own. You can run your entire CRM workflow inside Gmail and Calendar without switching tabs, thanks to their Chrome extension and deep email syncing. Teams relying on Google Workspace will find adoption way smoother here, since everything just shows up where you already work.

Airtable is a flexible database that's great for replacing Google Sheets or form tools, but it's not built to be a CRM and doesn't match Copper's native Google Workspace integration. If you try to force Airtable into that CRM role, you'll end up missing out on all the real-time Gmail and Calendar connections that Copper nails.

If your main need is a CRM that truly lives inside Google Workspace, Copper is the only one that delivers that experience. Airtable can't compete on this front. Pick Copper if Google integration is your priority.

Copper lets your team work from inside Gmail and Google Calendar, so there’s barely any learning curve if you’re already using Google Workspace. You just see Copper’s features alongside your regular inbox, adding contacts or managing tasks without ever switching tabs. Most CRMs force you to learn a new interface or constantly jump between apps, which drags out onboarding and frustrates people who aren’t super technical. With Copper, people can actually start using it the same day instead of getting stuck in training.

Workflow Presence

Copper helps your sales team close more deals for two reasons.

First, you don't break flow lets you stay inside Gmail or Google Calendar while handling tasks, adding contacts, and tracking past activity, so you barely have to touch the CRM interface at all.

Secondly, you can set up automated emails to follow-up with leads. Emails go directly from your own Gmail account, which makes follow-ups look real, avoids the generic bulk-send problem, and actually gets responses.

Team Adoption

Your team can use Copper without ever leaving Gmail or Google Calendar, thanks to its Chrome extension and deep Google Workspace integration, so nobody drops off just because they hate switching tabs. When you live in your inbox or calendar, Copper just shows up right where you already work, which means even the most tech-averse person on the team ends up actually using the CRM. Most CRMs claim to integrate with Google but always make you bounce between interfaces, and adoption tanks because the extra steps make people give up or forget. What is Airtable?

Airtable is an incredibly flexible tool that can be used from something as simple as a Google Sheets replacement, all the way up to a no-code builder.

At a core, it's really just a user-friendly database, similar to that of Coda and even Notion (although those 2 apps both started as more of knowledge base tools first, whereas Airtable has always been first-and-foremost a user-friendly database).

If your team is still using Google Sheets (for things outside of company finance reporting like balance sheets, etc.), then we fully encourage you to check out Airtable and to give it a try. In most cases, it will completely replace the need for Google Sheets, Google Forms, Typeform, Jotform, and other Form software.

Believe it or not, over the past 8+ years, we've actually entirely replaced every single internal Google Sheet with Airtable alternative. Sometimes the structure needs to change slightly, but doing so unlocks so much additional functionality.

We love working with the Airtable API. It just does most everything you could want it to do, and it incredibly flexible and easy to work with.

You can simply create a new view within an Airtable Base, add filtered logic to it, and set it up so when a new record enters that view, an automation can be triggered. This allows it to be incredibly flexible.
