A browser for agentic search by Perplexity.
Comet Browser is an upcoming Browser built by the team behind Perplexity (one of the most promising search-focused AI teams right now).
What they realized is that web browsers are at the core of search, so what if they built a browser that has their AI search at the core? Might sound familiar to The Browser Company's thesis with their new upcoming Dia Browser, but Perplexity is quite a bit larger and has had more success in the search space, taking nearly 2% of global search traffic.
With all of that said, moving into the browser space is incredibly difficult, so we'll have to see how it is once they finally release it.
Compared to established AI-friendly browsers like Arc Browser or even SigmaOS, Comet Browser isn’t a competitor yet, but it is a rapidly evolving space (more now than ever with AI).
Zen Browser is heavily inspired by Arc Browser, with one core difference. It was built for those who want a Chromium alternative, but love the idea of a modern browser with a powerful sidebar, like Arc.
That said, with it being built atop Firefox, if you're moving over to it from Google Chrome or Safari, you're most notably going to notice how many browser extensions you use that don't exist in Firefox more than anything:
It's also built by a much smaller team, so you really have to just be somebody that absolutely loves Firefox, and wants to use a modern spin on that. That said, if youwant an Arc-like experience without the bugs? Just use Arc instead.
