Impact’s tracking is fundamentally limited for modern SaaS use cases. Although it offers first-party tracking via its Universal Tracking Tag (UTT), the platform still relies on third-party redirect “bounce hops” that are increasingly blocked or skipped by modern browsers, iOS devices, and ad blockers. This frequently results in clicks being logged without conversions, conversions happening without attribution, and partners losing credit entirely. These issues lead to unreliable data, partner disputes, and broken trust across the program.

Impact technically gets the job done when it comes to payments and tax compliance, especially if you’re running a massive, enterprise B2C e-commerce program. It can handle complex payout logic and tax paperwork at scale, which explains why big retail brands and coupon networks still use it. But that is also the problem. All of this infrastructure is built for enterprise-level complexity, not SaaS. For most SaaS companies and smaller teams, the payments setup is overbuilt, unnecessarily expensive, and comes with frustrating onboarding and integration work. So while Impact is capable here, it is inefficient, heavy, and completely misaligned with what the majority of SaaS companies actually need.

From a partner standpoint, Impact is one of the worst experiences in the category. Creators, consultants, and content-led partners actively avoid it because the interface is confusing, links are fragmented, attribution is unreliable, and the data is not trustworthy. Partners are forced to create and juggle multiple tracking links just to answer basic questions about performance and even then, the numbers are often wrong due to blocked redirects and brittle tracking. The result is constant friction, lost confidence, and partners who are far less motivated to promote SaaS brands running on Impact, which ultimately leads to fewer promotions and strained partner relationships.

Impact offers plenty of reports and filters, but more data does not translate into better insights. The analytics are cluttered, fragmented, and clearly designed for complex enterprise eCommerce campaigns with thousands of SKUs, not SaaS attribution. Because the underlying tracking is unreliable, anything built on top of it is inherently flawed. Partners and brands still struggle to answer basic questions like which pieces of content actually drive trials or subscriptions. We have moved dozens of partners off Impact, and almost immediately after switching to a modern, SaaS-native platform, their affiliate performance improved because they finally had clear, actionable insights they could trust.

Impact’s UX is awful. Both brands and partners are forced into an interface packed with unnecessary complexity, endless toggles, and workflows designed for massive retail operations, not modern SaaS teams. Basic reporting is buried, and even power users struggle to move quickly. This friction leads to low adoption, frustrated partners, and real operational drag. Impact's user experience is inefficient, and it shows at every level of the platform.
