We've worked directly with the Cleanshot X team to get you an exclusive 10% off discount code.
While other websites might lead you to believe you're locking in a lifetime deal for CleanShot X by purchasing only through their website, we're here to tell you that CleanShot has two ways to purchase it, and one of those options is just simply a lifetime "deal". There is no coupon code, promo code, or referral code for CleanShot.
There's actually a few options available here, and we tried them all, so let's cover the positives and negatives of each below ⤵
For a one-time payment of $29, you get the Mac app forever, one year of updates (with an optional $19/yr to lock in another year of updates), and 1 GB of cloud storage.

This is actually what we purchased ourselves for our entire team, and we all use CleanShot daily, probably even 5+ times per day on average. Their actual monthly option, AKA Cloud Pro just makes it a bit too difficult to justify the pricing for the benefits it comes with.
The truth of the matter is the desktop app isn't all too different from how it was a year ago, some quality of life features for sure, but at the 1–year mark, most can likely justify not upgrading for another year of updates.
That said, we updated, because heck, we love software and want to be on the newest version (I mean we are a software review site and all).
The math just makes sense here though, you're essentially paying $1.58/mo for updates instead of the $10/mo, and you get to choose when you do the paid update, so maybe you let CleanShot ride for another 3–6 months without updates, then you pull the trigger because they just released a cool new feature relevant to you and then you can get another year of updates.
I challenged myself to use CleanShot and only backup videos and screenshots that were actually useful/important to reference/share, using a tool like Loom (free) when longer video recordings were needed to actually be hosted.
What I realized that even when I was doing screen recordings that would take up most of the CleanShot Cloud storage, well, it was more to share on Slack, X, and forums, all of which take the video upload and there's actually no need to have it hosted on CleanShot Cloud.
So here I am a year in and only having used some 300MB of storage, and the truth of the matter is I could get rid of some of the larger video recordings. I'm genuinely looking for reason to use CleanShot Cloud more, but can't find it 😅
This one almost got me, I'll admit it—there's just something to a nice short link for sharing instead of using share.cleanshot.com—that said, as mentioned above in the limited storage section, I just found that our entire team was more just using the CleanShot App as the screenshot/recording tool, and then sharing it to Slack/Social media (which it uploads to), and the need for actually hosting it in the cloud has just continued to make less and less sense.
The truth of the matter is I really tried justifying this one, but just couldn't make it make sense.

For $10/user/yr (or $96/user/yr), you get the same desktop app, unlimited updates, unlimited cloud storage, and custom domain and branding features, along with self destruct and password protected link control (the latter can actually be handled externally with more of a link shortening service like Dub by the way).
Well, the short answer here is that we've not been able to justify it, and we absolutely adore CleanShot, use it daily, and recommend it to everyone.
You can read more about why we don't feel CleanShot's subscription pricing is worth it over their lifetime deal option.

Okay, this one was super tempting, but resulted in me wasting a ton of time, only to realize that it just didn't make any sense.
You can get CleanShot + Cloud Pro as a part of your Setapp subscription (which starts at $9.99/user/mo), sounds great, right? Well...
This is where you learn that it comes with it some important restrictions that I just couldn't wrap my head around:
I had actually gone through all of the work to get Setapp set up and configured with CleanShot before I realized the small limitations placed here and there, which just made no sense—the lock-in is high, and the restrictions are strategic since of that $9.99, only a small amount is actually going to CleanShot, so if you're mainly getting Setapp just for CleanShot and maybe one other tool, you might be best to look elsewhere.

While there's no free trial, they do have a 30-day money-back guarantee so that you can try out the app and then you can just let then know if you have any issues and they'll give you a full refund.

There is none—it's the magic of how affiliate works (well... sometimes).
By using the link above to sign up to the app, you're telling their team that one of our videos, reviews, or comparisons convinced you to give them a shot.
As a thank you, they gives us a small kickback (at no additional cost to you), affiliate is the cost of marketing in their eyes.
This is one of the largest (somewhat hidden) industries out there.
When you buy that lemon juicer you found on Wirecutter, you're using their Amazon affiliate link, and they get a small percentage of that sale. In exchange, you got a pretty damn useful and deep dive comparison of lemon juicers. It's a win-win!
But you, you're a smart one, looking for software discount codes and promotions before signing up, just like us!
We've asked the software companies on our website if we could pass along a discount or deal, and sometimes they let us... but most of the time they can't due to billing complexities. Billing complexities are often the reason why you won't often find software deals out there.
That's where we've decided to step in and offer something to you directly from us, as a thank you for using our affiliate link, why? Because you didn't have to, but you chose to.
Software affiliate ranges anywhere from a small percentage of monthly spend (e.g. 15%), usually for the first year of a new customer to a small flat rate when you sign up. So if you're a solo seat account, on the lowest tier, and you cancel shortly thereafter—congrats! You just just got yourself any freebie we're offering by paying us less than a cup of coffee from your local Starbucks, gosh, talk about bargain shopping!
(And yes, we agree... It's ridiculously expensive, that's why we taught ourselves how to make lattes at home):
Started my "at-home" Barista Journey on April 21st. Here's where I'm at in just under 3 short months of making two single-shot 8oz latte's per day (comes out to about 150 attempts). ☕

We're investing any affiliate revenue directly back into creating more software comparison videos and software reviews. And as you'll see on our site, you'll only find modern software that we think is worth vetting (not every random tool that we'd actually never recommend).
With other review sites like G2 and other sites, you're actually getting pretty sub-par advice, and they just want your IP address to sell it back to the software on the site. It's clever, but just a race to the bottom. They don't care if you get value from their content. Though what we've seen is that on other sites, you simply click the link, purchase, and the site benefits.
We want to create more useful write-ups and videos (similar to that which sent you to this page right here), so we've decided to sweeten the deal.
I signed up with your affiliate link before seeing this page, did I miss out on the course?
That's the best part! If you signed up to any software on our site, and we later come out with a course, if we can simply prove the affiliate connection, we'll grandfather you into the course for free.
So that's right, just by exploring the software on this site and clicking links, you're potentially locking yourself into a future perk, how cool is that? Take Superhuman for example, you get a free 30 day trial if you use our link, and say we later release a course on setting up Superhuman for success, you get that for free.
Now go explore the other apps on our site and have some fun! Oh, but first, finish signing up here if you haven't already 😁
We got fed up with the B2B software review sites that we once loved. Sites that were once useful for finding the best software (G2 and Capterra) don't need to focus on giving value anymore as they just want your IP address and to identify you so that they can sell your data back to software companies to help them identify leads that go to their site (ever wonder why they pay you the $15 for a review? You give them all your information in exchange for that and they now know exactly who you are based on your IP Address).
First, we'll never sell your data. We use privacy focused analytics, we are a small business, and we (Alex & Andra), write 100% of the writes on our site. We evaluate every single software and put our reviews down on paper (well, digital paper) and videos. Here, you're going to get the software recommendations that we'd give to our customers and closest friends.
