Muse vs OpenClaw

Muse is Meta's new personal AI assistant and it's currently free. Muse can shop for you, fill out forms, monitor deals, and even make purchases for you.

Personally, I ask Muse for things like:

• Purchase items when they come into stock (always asks permission first)
• Keep track of my Black Friday wish list
• Tell me when my favorite band is coming into town
• Tell me when Amazon delivered my groceries (seriously though, why don't they ever ring the doorbell?)

• Easiest personal AI agent to use
• Works through a familiar chat interface, and even WhatsApp
• Can research, browse websites, fill out forms, and complete tasks
• Finds useful Instagram content and Reels during product research
• Can handle recurring tasks and monitoring
• Currently free to try

• Windows users need to use the browser because there isn't a Windows app
• Amazon and other websites may block it

Muse gets its own secure virtual computer and browser. This means it can visit websites, fill out forms, use your accounts with permission, etc. Basically, anything you wish could be taken off your plate, try giving it to Muse. Think grocery shopping, filling our forms, etc.

Example: My husband asked it to submit a warranty claim for a broken device, and Muse handled the process for him.

Muse can repeat tasks or monitor something without waiting for you to ask again, which is what makes it totally different than ChatGPT or Claude.

You could have it watch for an appointment, track the price of an item, look for tickets, monitor a full class for an opening, or complete monthly administrative work.

Example: Our meal-prep chef needed a simple way to send invoices, so she asked Muse to create and send them automatically on the first of each month. She didn't need to learn an invoicing platform or build an automation, she just told Muse what she needed!

Muse is currently free for most everyday use, but Meta hasn't published an exact number of free tasks or credits. When you reach the free limit, you can wait for it to refresh or upgrade.

• Free: Best for trying Muse with research, shopping, and basic personal-assistant tasks.
• Power: $20/month. Best for people who use Muse regularly and need more capacity.
• Maximum: $100/month. Best for heavy users running frequent or demanding tasks.

OpenClaw is an experimental AI agent that can do tasks for you. Unlike ChatGPT or Claude, it can take actions across anything on your device. Your folders, your browsers, tools, etc.

However, it coms with serious security risks. Being upfront, I have not personally installed OpenClaw on any of my own devices. I’ve spoken to a lot of people who have used it, including my father, who has worked in cybersecurity for over two decades and has installed it 6 or so times by now (more about his experience in our full OpenClaw Review).

The consistent theme from everyone I trust is this: no one feels fully confident that their setup is actually secure.

Right now, the risk just doesn’t match the reward.
