What is Grok Bot?

Grok Bot is an AI agent that gets its own computer in the cloud.

What makes it different compared to ChatGPT/Claude is how it executes work. So for example, have you ever thought "I wish I can give Claude a full task, like my grocery shopping and I just want it to do it for me."

Well these are exactly the types of tasks Grok Bot is great at.

Grok Bot is owned by Grok, which is owned by xAI.

How Grok Bot Works

You have multiple bots that you can give different roles to. One can be a personal assistant, a shopper, a researcher, a copywriter, etc.

The difference is you can say "do my grocery shopping for me" and you will get prompted with a login screen to Whole Foods (or wherever you do your shopping) and it will then add items to your cart and even check out for you if you allow it to.

So think of Grok Bot as the AI tool you use to execute mundane tasks. Compared to something like OpenClaw, it's a lot safer as there are more guardrails in. And there is no technical setup. Someone with no coding or technical experience can use it.

Our Experience with Grok Bot

Our team has been playing with Grok Bot, Alex (CEO) even went to a Grok Bot event in Austin. He said "Remember the enthusiasm Zapier had back in the day? This is that on steroids. There were about 250 people there, all incredibly excited about Grok Bot and what they can do with it."

Our Head of Engineering sent us a string of excited texts with a few different use cases:

He asked Grok Bot to check Facebook Marketplace every day for a specific guitar and notify it when it was in the price range he wanted

He got Grok Bot to submit his side project to different market place websites like Product Hunt. He said he woke up to "people messaging him, saying thank you for such a thoughtful application"
He also gets Grok Bot to search X daily for anyone looking for a solution that his side project solves
He gets Grok Bot to reply to his personal emails (if it was his work emails, we'd need to have a talk 😅)

Personally, I've gotten Grok Bot to:

Help with my grocery ordering. I give it a list and it adds the relevant items to my cart
Set up demo accounts for all the software we test! This is SUCH a time consuming task usually, it's been a huge help!

Setting up to Grok Bot was super easy. It was super user friendly and intuitive, no technical skills required!

Who is Grok Bot for?

Grok Bot is for people who want to automate repetitive things. No technical experience is required to use Grok Bot.

If you're an engineer though, it might be worth holding off.

From what we've seen, Grok Bot is best at helping with consumer tasks opposed to business tasks. For business, we prefer our AI employee, Viktor, that works right in Slack with our team (and can also execute tasks on its own cloud computer).

Key Features

Cloud Computer

This is the main feature that actually makes Grok Bot different. We've all experienced Claude or ChatGPT running a task for us, and accidentally closing our laptop only to realize later that made it stop working. Or just as bad, using Claude Co-work on your computer and realizing you can't continue prompting from your phone since it's working locally on your computer. This is the problem the cloud computer solves.

Each Bot can work from a computer in the cloud, so it isn't dependent on your laptop staying awake. You can start a task, close your computer, and the tasks keep running. Grok Bot works across devices too, so you can check task progress on your phone.

Scheduled Tasks

You can tell Grok Bot to do something repeatedly without coming back every Monday to remind it. This is one of the features I am most excited to play with for personal tasks.

Uses Your Accounts

The difference with Grok Bot is it will ask you to log into your account on its cloud computer. I won't lie, the first time it asked me for my Whole Foods password, I freaked out lol. I asked Alex, "Is this ok?".

The thing is, Grok Bot is A LOT safer than something like OpenClaw and has a lot more security permissions built around it. Grok Bot assured me "I never see passwords either way (the form fills the page without showing me what you typed)". So with that, I took the plunge.

That said, would I let it log into my bank account? No, I'm not there yet.

Bob has logged his Bot into Facebook, email, Amazon, X, and Ramp.

Additional Features

Approval Rules and Guardrails

You can give it rules in plain English, and the Bot can stop before sensitive actions to ask for permission. xAI also lets users configure approval rules around things like sending, publishing, deleting, buying something, or changing important systems.

Bob has found Grok Bot a little too careful at times. He's given it a task before bed, gone to sleep expecting the work to be finished, and woken up to discover it stopped halfway through because it had been waiting for him to approve something.

But given the alternative, I'd rather wake up to "Do I have permission to buy this?" than discover my AI agent interpreted a vague instruction creatively with my credit card.

X Access

X blocks most AI tools from getting access, and if you're a writer or researcher, you know this slows your roll. I use X a lot for research when writing these reviews, so I'm pumped to have an X assistant on my hands.

Pricing

Grok Bot currently comes bundled with eligible Grok and Cursor subscriptions rather than requiring a completely separate Bot subscription.

Cursor Pro: $20/month. Grok Bot is included with paid individual Cursor plans, and the Grok Bot site currently lists Cursor Pro at $20/month.
SuperGrok: $30/month. Includes Grok Bot along with Grok 4.6, higher usage limits, connectors, and other Grok features.
SuperGrok Plus: $100/month. Includes the SuperGrok features with considerably higher usage and priority access.
Teams and Enterprise: Grok Bot is also available through eligible Cursor Teams plans, while enterprise availability and pricing can depend on the account.

Final Verdict

Is Grok Bot worth it? Definitely. If there are repetitive things you're currently doing on a computer that you would happily hand to someone else, then you gotta try it.

But if you're a business owner looking for an AI employee that will give you the maximum ROI, I'd definitely look at Viktor too. At this point, I refuse to work without him.
