We were already using Viktor when Claude Tag launched. While on the surface they seem like a similar product, we found them to be quite different in terms how they actually execute tasks. The score card?

Viktor is winning at the moment and it's what we're continuing to use.

Viktor vs Claude Tag: Who Wins?

I've been using Viktor for over a month now, and honestly, it's the first AI tool that actually blew us away. Most AI tools still need you to hand-feed them everything. You have to prompt them, explain how you work, upload docs to a knowledge base and teach them what you need.

Viktor requires none of that. But Viktor just came into our Slack, looked around, and started proactively pulling work off our plate. He'd jump into conversations between our team and be like, "Hey, I can handle that," and then he'd just do it.

When Claude Tag came out, we were obviously curious (especially as we already use Claude).

So let me walk you through what we've actually found using both.

Where They Actually Work

Viktor runs on Slack and Microsoft Teams.

Claude Tag is Slack only right now.

Getting Started

With Viktor, onboarding is basically instant. No credit card needed upfront. You get free credits (if you use our Viktor discount code, you get even more).

You just connect it to your Slack or Microsoft Teams, and shortly after Viktor's introducing himself to the team, figuring out what each person does, and telling you exactly what he can take off your plate.

Claude Tag has been a hassle to onboard to. You need a minimum team account ($25 x 5 ($125/mo) or enterprise account just to use it.

We didn't have that set up since everyone on our team just has their own Claude seat.

So to even try Claude Tag, we needed to restructure how we buy Claude, purchase five new seats we don't really need, and commit at least $150 before we even get any benefit.

The reality is, we went from excited to try Claude Tag a shot, to just getting in the weeds with billing logistics and admin 😅

Who Should Use What

Use Viktor if you're a solo founder, a small business, a startup, Fortune 500 or really anyone across any team size who uses a bunch of different tools and actually wants an AI hire to execute on tasks.

Try Claude Tag if you already have Claude team or enterprise setup and you're mainly trying to solve engineering problems. You're their ideal customer right now.

There is a world where you can probably use both as they are wildly different at the moment.

Core Differences

Context

With Claude Tag, you add it to one channel, and it only knows what's in that channel. For a big enterprise, that probably makes sense.

But for us, it's a huge step backwards, especially after using Viktor.

For example, we have an SEO and engineering channel. Sometimes an SEO problem needs engineering input.

With Viktor, I can tag him and he knows both conversations, he's seen the code context and the SEO context, so he can actually help way better than if he only had half the picture.

Our engineer actually said he will often talk through problems with Viktor over Claude because Viktor better understands the problems we're trying to solve as he has insight into everyone's work.

Alex (CEO) said this has been incredibly helpful and has resulted in him stepping into less conversations, as Viktor is great at bringing the team up to speed.

So if we were only using Claude Tag, we'd be explaining things twice, which is exactly the exhaustion we're trying to avoid.

So in terms of context, Viktor wins.

Task Execution

I can't tell you the amount of times I've said to Viktor "This is probably too big of an ask, but can you try doing XYZ across 1-2-3-4 tools?" And he's come back and executed way better than I thought possible 😅 We cover a ton of examples in our Viktor Review.

With Claude Tag, they've only launched with 14 integrations so the scope of work is limited (we only use 4 tools that they integrate with).

Integrations

This brings us to integrations.

If you've ever had the thought "I wish there was one AI tool that I could just ask a question to, and it could search across ALL my tools" then Viktor is your answer.

Viktor connects to over 3,200 tools through MCP, Pipedream, OAuth, and APIs. These are all the tools we currently have connected.

Viktor Integrations

So when he's working on something, he's not just reading what's in the Slack or Teams thread, he's pulling context across ALL the connected tools. When he's executing work, he actually has access to your CRM, email, project management software, business bank accounts, etc.

Claude Tag launched with a smaller set of integrations like Asana, HubSpot, Linear, Notion, Vercel, Gitlab, Datadog (etc). They are very enterprise-coding-team focused.

AI Models

With Claude Tag, you're only going to ever have access to using Claude's model.

With Viktor, you can switch between different AI models whenever you want.

We're in the middle of this whole AI race and OpenAI, Anthropic, everyone's fighting to build better and better models. If someone launches a better model next month, Viktor lets you use it.

We appreciate having that option.

Security

Both Viktor and Claude Tag are secure and safe to use.

Viktor's SOC 2 compliant, GDPR and CCPA certified, CASA tier 3. Your data doesn't train their models. Anthropic is an enterprise brand, so of course they excel when it comes to security.

Final Verdict

In our opinion, Viktor is the better path right now if you have to pick one. You can set it up in literally under 1 minute (just connect your Slack or Teams account) and then watch what it does (all for free using our link to get extra free Viktor credits).

The onboarding alone makes Claude Tag hard to recommend unless you're already on a team account. You need to pay $150/mo + usage credits before you can even start.

Plus, the Viktor integrations and cross-channel context is what actually has given us those magical moments with Viktor.

For us, we're going to continue to use Viktor, he's a core team member now.
