Comparison Summary

Looking for a more traditional and customer-centric help desk? Help Scout has done an incredible job at not just doing this, but having their customers magnify this.

On the other hand, if you're a deeply product-focused company using Slack for shared customer channels, where support and engineering tickets are often started from Slack, Plain is building specifically for you.

Business Type

As we're a traditional services business, Help Scout has been an exceptional Help Desk solution for us.

The more we have been pivoting into more of a partnerships/growth/product though, the more we see Slack turning into the main place that we're creating tickets, which makes Plain a bit consideration for us in the business we're building now.

That said, we wouldn't recommend plain for a business that is not heavily product-driven. A service-based business likely won't have all the features and functionality they would need in their Help Desk with Plain, leaving Help Scout as the better option.
