Comparison Summary

Vivaldi lets you move every button and tweak the interface, while Chromium only makes sense if you want to mess with the raw browser codebase.

Only use Vivaldi if customizing every detail matters to you, use Chromium only if you need to tinker with the underlying browser itself.

Editor's Verdict

Editor's Verdict

If you want to obsessively customize every button and color in your browser, Vivaldi is the only one here that actually lets you do that out of the box. It's stuck with an outdated 2015 look, but if total control over the browser interface is your thing, Vivaldi delivers.

Chromium, on the other hand, is just the raw engine behind browsers like Chrome, Edge, and Brave. Using Chromium itself doesn't give you any of the features or conveniences you'd expect from a modern browser. Unless you specifically want to tinker with the bare foundation and don't care about having a full-featured browser, Chromium isn't meant for most people.

So if customization is what matters to you, go with Vivaldi. Chromium is only relevant if you want to mess with the base code and don't care about actual browser features.
