Comparison Summary

Zen Browser avoids Google and Chromium but breaks extension support and can be buggy since most sites target Chromium, unlike Edge.

Only use Edge if you want Microsoft's Copilot AI features built in, but otherwise neither stands out as a strong pick.

Editor's Verdict

Editor's Verdict

If you rely on browser extensions, Edge is the clear pick. Zen Browser only supports a tiny fraction of Chrome extensions, since it's built on Firefox, and most users will quickly hit limits with missing add-ons. Edge, running on Chromium, avoids this headache entirely and offers much better compatibility with the extensions most people expect.

If you just want a browser that works smoothly on the majority of sites, Edge also comes out ahead. Sites are built with Chromium in mind, so you'll run into fewer bugs and less weirdness than with Zen Browser, which inherits Firefox's quirks and compatibility issues.

Zen Browser might appeal if you're a diehard Firefox fan who wants a modern sidebar, but for almost everyone else, Edge is just less hassle and more reliable for daily browsing.
