Editor's Verdict

Editor's Verdict

Zen Browser is all about giving you a modern sidebar-driven experience on top of Firefox, but the tradeoff is brutal if you rely on browser extensions, almost none of your Chrome or Safari add-ons will carry over, and you'll probably hit more site compatibility issues since most stuff is built for Chromium browsers now.

SigmaOS, on the other hand, is building out productivity layers and a fresh layout, trying to rethink the browser from the ground up. While it's not as well-funded as Arc and charges for features Arc gives away for free, it doesn't face the same extension and compatibility headaches as Zen Browser.

If you care about having your extensions work and want a smoother ride with modern web apps, SigmaOS is the safer pick. Zen Browser only makes sense if you're a hardcore Firefox fan willing to live with broken or missing extensions just to avoid Chromium. For almost everyone else, SigmaOS is the better bet here.
