Battle of the AI Personal Assistant Bots
Battle of the AI Personal Assistant BotsHello!! π What a few weeks it's been in tech.
Meta launched their personal assistant Muse, xAI is ramping up Grok Bot, OpenAI launched Dots.
Normally we don't cover these types of launches but these feel different... because I'm sick of this with AI Chatbots β¬οΈ
When I complained in our Slack channel, the team chimed in:
What's different about these AI Agents is that they have their own "cloud computer" which is a fancy way of saying they can use a browser, click around, and do things for you... like take a damn screenshot lol
I spent this past week playing with all the AI agents, here are my thoughts π€
Muse by Meta
Muse by MetaWhat it is: They are trying to be the personal assistant that anyone can use. Your mom, heck even your grandmother can use it. It even works in WhatsApp.
What I use it for: I've been using it for routine low value personal tasks, and it's been fun!
Things like:
- Monitor this website for when this item is back in stock
- Make my Black Friday wish list
- Tell me when my favorite band is coming into town
- Tell me when Amazon delivered my groceries (seriously though, why don't they ever ring the doorbell?)
Just a few minutes ago, I gave it access to my Shop Pay account to buy me a new pair of pants that are likely to sell out (kinda nervous, this is my first time I'm letting an agent shop for me!).
Should you try it? I'd say yes, for small personal tasks. Right now, it's free, I haven't hit limits, so I think it's worth taking for a whirl this weekend!
Do we trust Meta? lol not really. While they don't use your conversations to target ads at you, I don't trust they won't ever do that. I did give it access to my personal email and calendar though, so I guess I'm diving in anyway.

Grok Bot by xAI
Grok Bot by xAIWhat it is: It's VERY similar to Muse, except $30/mo. The main difference is that it's more for power users.
Instead of one cute little agent, you get as many as you want that you can train up to do different tasks. If you're more technical or live on X more than Meta, this is a better fit.
What I used it for: We are making a video about the Best CRMs (almost done π€).
One of the things we do in our videos is show you inside the software we're talking about, but this takes hours and hours to set up each tool with data so it doesn't just look like a blank account.
Alex had the amazing idea to give Grok Bot all my logins for each CRM and it filled out the account for me. It worked amazingly, and I got a day back.
Should you try it? I'd say Grok Bot is worth trying if you love tinkering with Zapier, n8n, or IFTTT. Our engineer said using Grok Bot brought back the joy he used to feel from engineering (pre-AI).

Dots by OpenAI
Dots by OpenAIWhat it is: AI Agent for ChatGPT users BUT you need to be on the $200/mo tier to use it. That's per person. It works within the app and Slack & Teams.
What I used it for: Our engineer, Bob, is on this tier, so I got a chance to test it out through him. He asked it to create me a landing page.
It was fast and worked well, but the con is... Bob's Dot only responds to its owner in Slack...which makes team collaboration, um impossible.
So since we've been using Viktor, it feels less impressive because we feel we already got to experience the best of this type of agent for months now lol. One that works with all of our team members and has memory across all of our roles.
That said, we couldn't help but tease Viktor:
Claude Tag
Claude TagAnd as for Claude...I'm sure they'll release something soon that is similar.
They do have Claude Tag, but I kid you not, we tried to set this up a handful of times and they made the user experience extremely confusing. We have not had one successful interaction π
Rumor has it that Anthropic may have internally deprioritized Claude Tag due to poor adoption, and that means it may be getting the axe one of these days, but what do we know π€·ββοΈ π€«
Congrats! You're up to speed on all things AI agents!! π
(wellllll almost - we're evaluating one more right now and we'll let you know what we think about it - write us if you think you know what it is and we'll shout you out in the next newsletter if you guess right!)
Deal of the Month π
Deal of the Month πIf you haven't tried Viktor, he's the MVP of all the tools we're using this year.
Also btw - we also have tons of friends who are even Solo Founders using Viktor as a teammate in Slack.
BTW, if you're not using Slack, they also gave our audience 50% off Slack for 3 months.

On our mind lately
On our mind latelyπ©βπ³ Earlier this year, we hired a home chef to come meal prep for us 2x a week. It's actually cheaper and way healthier than eating out. I think a platform like "Airbnb" but for home chefs is going to be the next big thing.
ποΈ Testing this out to see if it can really improve our sleep. Keep you posted!
π I have never loved writing more than I do now. It took AI making everyone sound the same (and perfect) to really appreciate the way messy human words dance in my brain!
